Already an adult, the phrase seems rather contrived... Yet, I do feel that I have grown since I came to Japan. It has been a rocky road, and I am still struggling, being only a second year with Japanese language.
Though I have not written much of my actual experiences and learning, I have been able to reflect upon the past semester, as it draws to a close, and see how much I have grown. It has reflected in my abilities and teachers have encouraged me to keep going, because I have learned a lot more than I know. Granted, learning the language has had more than a few bumps for me lately. Memorization is a difficult task and one I do not grasp easily. However, I have come to understand and respect Japanese culture. I think I like it even more for what it is, than what I once thought it was. It is a big part of growing in learning the language, and while much of my time has been taken up with studies, I have still had experiences with meeting new people and having many conversations in both English and Japanese.
